Flinders Street Station

Client: State Government of Victoria

An entry for the Flinders Street Station design competition for the State Government of Victoria in Australia, with our team, including local architects K20 and consulting engineers Arup.

The process included a number of intensive design reviews. The design seeks to reinvigorate the historic Flinders Street railway station in the heart of Melbourne and to create a sustainable landmark development to connect the city and parks back to the river.

The scheme comprises a reinterpretation of the city grid through a multi layered Grand Central Concourse that links into a new elevated city garden with landscape punctuated with an array of innovative tree structures and canopies that filter light, capture solar energy, ventilate the platforms and harvest rainwater.
