The Biosphere 

Client: Newcastle City Council

This unique facility provides much needed space to support the generation of new businesses and enable existing businesses to expand in the bourgeoning science and bioscience sector, creating jobs and raising the profile of Newcastle as a national centre for biosciences. 

The building consists of two wings both served by a central core accommodated over seven floors with uses split between office and laboratory. The lower ground floor accommodates the entrance, delivery and holding zone, meeting spaces and ancillary accommodation. The level above accommodates office functions, centralised meeting spaces and a social hub. 

The four levels above this are designated for laboratory and / or office use and the seventh storey dedicated to housing internal and external plant and tenant amenities. 

The building is located on Newcastle Helix, a 24 acre mixed use prime city centre development.
