Vision Tameside

Client: Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and Tameside College

Vision Tameside, a partnership between Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (TMBC) and Tameside College, planned an ambitious Town Centre regeneration strategy to improve the lives of local people through economic prosperity and skills, with the delivery of efficient collocated services, improved public realm, accessibility and connectivity within the Greater Manchester area.

Following an extensive stakeholder and community engagement exercise, Ryder designed Tameside One, a new mixed use development with flexible office accommodation, public library and a multi agency customer service centre for TMBC, teaching and vocational training space for Tameside College and commercial retail spaces to generate footfall.

The public library serves as the front door for staff, visitors and the public alike, and acts as the social heart of the building. This community space is relaxed and open; all customer services sit within the same space without division, where boundaries are blurred, breaking down stigmas and improving social cohesion.
